Jen, I'm using the Simply CM Online Planner and I'd love to key your biology plans into it. Would that be okay? Blessings, Becky
ReplyDeleteSure, Becky! Go right ahead!
ReplyDeleteI can only find, "Biology: Inquiry Into Life" with a different author than you have: Sylvia Mader, not who you have listed above. I don't see your listed book anywhere online. Where did you get it?
ReplyDeleteI bought my copy of the book used from Amazon. The Sylvia Mader is a different book. I did a quick search and didn't find a used copy available through any used vendors right now. You could always create a saved search at Abebooks though. Sorry you're unable to find it!
ReplyDeleteCould this be used, in your opinion, for both elementary into high school--with some ajustments for the different ages? Thanks you.
ReplyDeleteHi Laura,
ReplyDeleteI probably wouldn't use this course with an elementary student. There are several mature topics that the high school Biology student explores, most of which assume a certain maturity and that the parent has introduced some basic biology/anatomy. The Curious Naturalist has some sections that would have to be weeded out, and The Way Life Works definitely presents mature matter. There are so many fantastic living books in this genre for elementary students that, if it were me, I'd build a whole different course. In fact, I have! Over here on one of my printables pages on my main blog (http://wildflowersandmarbles.com/the-paper-stuff/booklists/)...if you scroll down, you'll see a Botany booklist (here: http://wildflowersandmarbles.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/botany-booklistsresources-all-ages.pdf). That should give you a nudge in the right direction for planning for an elementary student.
Hope this is a help, Laura!
Thanks so much Jen! I like to keep science and history on the same level for the family...managed okay so far....but last time we did bio it was more of a Blood and Guts and I would like my 10th grader to use this great site this time..so will tweak a bit this time. Thanks again, love your blog, thanks for sharing your talents.
ReplyDeleteJen do you have Term 2 and Term 3 laid out by week...or am I missing it here:)
ReplyDeleteYou're not missing it, Laura - I don't have those terms posted and laid out nice and neat on the blog. But they should be pretty simple to plug in - A Khan lecture 1x/day along with one reading from one of the books.
